A couple here has married online. Falling in love with one another online has become very common nowadays. This couple also chose to get married online.
The young man who married this way and set a new tradition happens to be Mohammed Adil Kawda of Bhatkal origin. He is the great-grandson of Jukaku Shamsuddin, who was the very first minister from Bhatkal. The bride was Aafia Marya from Amboor, Chennai.
The couple was engaged. If a proper marriage is arranged, many people would have gathered but as per lockdown rules, this cannot happen. Many relatives would not have been able to witness the marriage. Therefore, both the families joined together and arranged for the Nikah online. The marriage was performed through the Cisco WebEx app. Relatives of the couple living in different countries witnessed the Nikah online. Adil had invited the Qazi to their home where the online marriage was arranged.
All documents relating to the marriage have been completed including video recording. The family said that all the procedures applicable for normal marriage have been complied with. The marriage was solemnized by signing the documents in the presence of the Qazi, the family members confirmed.
Mohammed Adil said that such marriages have become unavoidable under the present circumstances. He said that keeping on postponing the marriage does not serve any purpose as there is no certainty as to how long the coronavirus situation will last. Therefore, entering wedded life in a simple ceremony which can be witnessed by all the relatives is the best option, he said.
