Bengaluru, Jul 27: Coronavirus infection has been spreading vigorously with each passing day. The state government, which is worried about the situation, and also is aware that additional workforce would be required to bring the Covid situation under control, has now decided to utilise services of about 75 percent of the staff strength of various departments for this job.
State chief secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar, has issued an order in this connection, drawing services of employees for Covid regulation as above. However, the order does not cover employees of home, finance, health, medical education, revenue (disaster management), transport commissionerate, as well as food and civil supplies department.

Bengaluru city and rural district level and booth level Covid control duty requires a lot of staff. The government has asked the departments to submit lists of officers and other staff aged below 55 by email to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike commissioner before 5 pm on July 28.
The government proposes to utilise services of 75 percent of staff aged under 55 in different departments located in Bengaluru city and rural districts for Covid control. Pregnant women, puerperal women and differently abled employees would be exempted. Only 25 percent of staff would be given the responsibility of attending to office work.
The departments have been asked to confirm address, ward number and mobile phone numbers before sending the lists as above. They will be required to work full time under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act and there will be no concession, the government has said.
