Udupi, Jul 25: Electricity supply was getting affected frequently at the Malpe-Padukere area of the city due to heavy breeze and rain during the monsoon season. For the same reason, the project of laying underground electricity cables of 11 kv on a stretch of 5.2 km at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore was approved by the government.
This underground cable laying work was inaugurated by MLA Raghupati Bhat on Friday, July 24. He congratulated the officials of Mescom and also the contractor for this great work.
Dinakar Babu, president of zilla panchayat, Pramod K Salian, former president of Ambalpadi panchayat, Raghunath Kotian, former president of Kadekar panchayat, Shantaraj, member, Deepak Salian, president of Devi Anjaneya Sangha, Dinesh Upadhya, executive engineer of Mescom, Ganraj Bhat, assistant executive engineer, activists of BJP and locals were present.
