Udupi, Jul 14: The senior health officer of the municipality here has tested positive for coronavirus infection on the evening of Monday July 13. In this background, Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) building was sealed down.
Sources said that the throat swab samples of the said official had been collected a week ago. The report which was received yesterday, gave positive result. As a precautionary measure, the official did not attend the municipal office and had self-quarantined at home.
Being a health officer, he is always exposed to different people on a daily basis. As he is involved with things like cleanliness, quarantine management etc, his colleagues feel, he might have contracted this infection.
Closing down of the municipal building creates problems for a large number of people and controlling hundreds of people coming from different places for various works becomes a herculean task.
