Mangalore, Feb 27: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), CIFTI, FICCI, and the Quality Council of India (QCI) jointly organized a one-day seminar on “Food Regulations and Voluntary Certification” at Hotel Gateway on Friday, February 26.
Vice President of KCCI G G Mohandas Prabhu delivered the key-note address. He in his speech said that people seldom think about the quality of the food they eat, though they prefer eating them at air-conditioned malls. Speaking about the availability of high-quality products, Prabhu said that the Ministry of Food Processing has implemented a food processing scheme in different parts of the country. He urged the government to set up Ministry of Food Processing and Technology Park in the district.
Prabhu informed that the government has recognized Dakshina Kannada district as a horticulture district and has approved the establishment of 6 banks, out of which 2 have been already established.
Shobha Hegde, the advisor of Quality Council of India, Aravind Singhathiya, the assistant director of FICCI spoke on the occasion. President of KCCI Shrinivas S Kamath welcomed the gathering. Latha R Kini and M Ameen were present on the dais.
Seminar on various topics were presented by Aravind Singhathiya, assistant director, FICCI, Shobha Hegde, advisor of Quality Council of India, P C Anil Kumar, Johnson Diversey and Sunil Adsule, General Manager Regulatory Affairs, Coca cola, India.
