Bengaluru: CM Yediyurappa says he is personally opposed to lockdown, appeals public to cooperate

Bengaluru, Jul 13: Amid mounting pressure from various quarters and some political parties in favour of bringing Dakshina Kannada district under another period of lockdown in order to contain rising incidents of coronavirus infection, chief minister B S Yediyurappa asserted that he is personally opposed to the idea of lockdown.

He laid bare his opinion at a meeting he held on Monday July 13 with district administrations of various districts via video conferencing facility. The said further appealed for cooperation from public.

The chief minister advised the concerned not to nurse the false notion that lockdown will address all the ills and concerns relating to coronavirus.

He obtained a report on the current situation in Dakshina Kannada district. During the interaction, he gave his notion about lockdown as above.

Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinvas Poojary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and other officials were present during the meeting.

    ಬಂದವರನ್ನ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಕ್ವಾರಂಟೈನ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ರೆ ಲಾಕ್ ಡೌನ್ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಇರ್ತಿರ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ... ಕ್ವಾರಂಟೈನ್ ಮಾಡೋಕೆ ಸ್ಥಳ ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದ್ರು.. ಇನ್ನು ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆಡ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಮಾಡ್ತಾರೊ... ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಗುಂಡಿ ತೋಡಿ ಇಟ್ಕೊಳ್ಳೋಣ ಏನಂತೀರ??

    Why don't increase testing ? Have free testing in containment zones , sanitize them , denotify the zones after the casee have stopped !effective lockdown along with increased testing can only save us! Tests should be done without any prescription and cost should be lowered

    All those whoever wish to go into self Lockdown can do so and remain safe at home! Those who wish to work by taking all the precautionary measures should be allowed to do so! After all locking down for months together and remaining at home is not a solution. Only old and sick people may prefer that! It is time to learn to live with this virus, find some remedy to treat it effectively.

    CMs above statement says it all: that lockdown is not at all the solution to containing the virus; actually it will bring more pain to middle class & MSME businessmen in restarting their businesses! Many high end restaurants have already closed down in Mumbai! Those paying high rentals for shops will not be able to beat the shock! Nobody will dare give credit anymore! When bank moratorium ends, banks will hound debtors as most will not be able to repay the land due to loss of income for such a long time, builders are doomed as nobody will invest/speculate in property!

    If a 90 day nation wide lockdown did not stop the virus what will a 7 day lockdown do, except delay the inevitable for 7 days


    .If nature was allowed it's due course without any lockdown,testing and tracing,by now the number of new cases would have started coming down drastically,there would have been much fewer deaths as comorbidities would have been treated well, business would have continued without economic loss,there would have been no suicides due to fear and financial woes,and there would have been no hunger deaths.People are only spending for testing, hospitalization,sanitizers and what not.Children would not have lost a year of knowledge.India would have been a financial super power.
    The best option would have been to seal/restrict/test/quarantine the incomming passengers from abroad in January itself.We need not have imported the virus.

    Whatever has been said and done with regards to Corona Virus, be it symptoms, preventive care, about infection or about decease itself;
    In all, authorities have taken reverse stand, including by WHO, who are supposed to be guiding light to everyone.
    Initial days and months, phobia was created. Whoever defied the lock down orders, even for permitted activities were brutalized.
    But now cases have increased many fold, no medicine or vaccination is in sight, but still hasty unlocking orders are processed by the very authorities who imposed them.
    Therefore chaos prevailing not only here, but every corner of the world. Public are doubting whether it's an international conspiracy?
    But only one thing is common, whoever is taken to hospital, hefty medical bills are charged, bearing very few exceptions.

    Fortunate to have CM who can think independently at this hour. Most of the cases are asymptomatic and need to be home quarantined. The onus lies on each and every citizen to adhere to the regulations.
    Already more than 50% have lost their jobs or are on rotation. The next lock down will lead to "GREAT DEPRESSION".
    Easy for ones who have more than enough staked in banks or homes to say " we need a lock down", remember
    1. death is eminent in life.
    2. economy is on a down word spiral
    3. essentials are getting expensive
    4. mental state to the people are in ruins

    Wait patiently and cautiously for some more time. Our population is not that high as Bangalore. Most of our people adhere to the rules.

    Dear all, as u all known henceforth we have to live with this virus, just like dengue, malaria, etc.. so by doing lockdown whether everything will be solved. Lockdown is not the only solution for stopping this virus. First we have to see the after effects of doing lockdown.
    As u all think by doing lockdown virus will go is absolutely foolishness. It will increase more. See the effect what the unplanned lockdown did to the ppl. Don't blindly follow in the footsteps of our unplanning govt both central and state.
    When the lockdown was done what our PM and CM and all the ministers did, but only a big zero.
    The virus can be contained by ourselves by taking necessary precautions like following SMS rule promptly.
    Please come of the mindset of lockdown and closing the area. In initial lockdown itself so many ppl have suffered like so many ppl lost their jobs, reductions in salaries, no food to eat, etc....
    Now in blore they have announced lockdown again but what will be the benefit from it nobody knows.
    Let us fight this virus by taking necessary precautions within ourselves.

    Come to blore to see how the lockdown will be followed.
    It is absolutely waste of doing when everything is available and ppl are moving freely.
