Gadag: Toddler gets quarantine rule violation notice

Daijiworld Media Network - Gadag (SP)

Gadag, Jul 13: The tahsildar of Mundaragi taluk in the district surprised everyone by issuing a warning notice to a two-year-old girl, accusing her of violating home quarantine rules.

The girl happens to be a resident of Hudco colony of Mudaragi town. She got a notice for violating home quarantine rules by switching off her mobile phone during the quarantine period and thus committing an offence under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act - 2005. The notice said that the offence is punishable with imprisonment under sections 51 and 188 of the act. The notice, issued on July 7, warned that the girl would be subjected to institutional quarantine if the mobile phone is switched off again during the remaining period of quarantine.

It is not known whether this blunder was caused by excessive duty consciousness on the part of the tahsildar or it occurred because the department just, adds names to the pre-printed notices. It is evident that when sending the notice full name, age, etc were not taken into account. It seems that the notice aimed at the parents was served on the daughter.
