Mangaluru, Jul 11: Sindhu B Rupesh, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district on Saturday July 11 said that a team of 13 medical officers will start working to assess the reasons for increasing number of coronavirus deaths of late in the district.
She said, "The district administration is equipped to face the increasing number of Covid-19 cases. As many as 2,282 beds are kept ready and it has the capacity to arrange another 13,000 beds. As much as 50% beds are reserved in private hospitals and 34 ventilators are available in Wenlock hospital. There are 22 patients in the ICU.
“Thirty-five flights have arrived in the district from abroad with 5,632 people. As many as 7,532 people have arrived from outside the state and 3,531 people are in home quarantine.
“FIRs are registered against 40 people who violated quarantine rules. Forty people have been sent back for institutional quarantine. Notices are issued to 889 people.
“There are 470 containment zones in the district. Highest positive cases of 174 are reported from Ullal. Asha workers have visited 7,20,152 houses so far.
“There are possibilities of coronavirus reaching community transmission level as more and more cases are being reported,” the DC said.
