Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 11: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday July 11, recorded 186 new cases and three deaths. Meanwhile, Udupi witnessed a big spike after many days reporting 90 fresh cases.
A total of 22,832 samples have been sent for tests so far. As many as 20,798 have turned out negative, and 2,034 are positive till date. Out of these, 1,211 cases are currently active. As many as 782 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 41 deaths have occurred so far.
Three deaths were reported on Saturday. The victims are two males aged 33 and 78, and a female aged 67.
As many as 29 patients were discharged from Wenlock and other private hospitals on Saturday.
Of the 186 who tested positive on Saturday, 10 have returned Qatar and Dubai, two from Bengaluru, 64 are diagnosed with influenza-like illness (ILI), 17 are diagnosed with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI), 37 are primary contacts of earlier positive-tested patients, seven are pre-surgery samples, 13 are random samples, four are pre-delivery samples, and contact tracing process of 32 patients is on.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,875 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, and a total of 4,875 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 1,285 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 137 people are in isolation wards, including 22 fresh admissions on Saturday. Among the new admissions, four are Covid suspects, seven have SARI and 11 influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,115 people, including 26 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 21,678 samples have been collected so far, including 269 on Saturday, out of which 117 each are COVID contacts. Out of them, 18,081 samples have turned out to be negative, including 573 on Saturday, and 2,030 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,567 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 90 on Saturday. As many as 1,245 patients have been discharged so far including 21 on Saturday, and 319 cases are currently active. Three deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
Among the 90 new cases, 60 are males and 30 females. One each arrived from Mangaluru and Raichur, eight from Mumbai, five from Bengaluru and 75 are primary contacts of earlier positive-tested patients.
