Udupi, Jul 11: The problem with drainage at Kukkikatte main road where it passes through Badagabettu village, has been persistent for the last several years. The issue causes a lot of inconvenience and problems for the people and others who use this road all times of the day.
The area falls within Udupi municipal limits. On one side, Indiranagar ward is located with the other belonging to Chitlpady ward. Even though the locals and others brought this problem to the notice of municipal officials and councillors, so far no action has been taken to address this problem.
Social worker Ansar Ahmed, who is aware of the problem, is now determined to provide a lasting solution to the problem. Two banners highlighting the failure of the municipality have been planted at the spot. Udupi municipality and local people's representatives have been given a deadline of July 18 to solve the problem. If the issue remains unresolved till then, he plans to join a team of 40 young volunteers and voluntarily work to address the problem. At that time, a banner decrying the apathy of municipal councillors would be planted at the site.
A 40-member strong team is now ready to challenge the municipality. Ansar said that even in the future whenever problems arise in public places, he is ready to solve the problem by arranging voluntary workers.
