Mangaluru, Jul 10: As per the directions given by the Laudato Si committee of the diocese, the Guardian Angel Church, Angelore on July 8 celebrated Vanamahotsava and Jalabandan on July 8.
Keshav Maroli and Sandeep Garodi, two corporators of the MCC were the chief guests. Keshav speaking on the occasion said, "When a house is built at least 30% of the total site should be set aside for the plants and vegetables. It is only then that nature remains peaceful and healthy."
He lauded the programme initiated by the church community to protect mother nature. Fr William Menezes, the parish priest said that we need to protect nature and handover to the future generation in a better way than what we have received and that is why we have taken measures to plant 350 saplings in our church compound. Adequate measures have been taken for Jalabandan. While distributing a flower plant to each of the ward representatives, he urged all the parishioners to take up this noble cause.
Noel Pinto, the vice-president of the PPP welcomed the gathering, Felix Moras proposed the vote of thanks while the secretary of PPP, Lolina DSouza compered the programme. A good number of the parishioners attended the programme.
