Bengaluru, Jul 9: The number of people getting infected from the coronavirus is increasing at an alarming rate day-by-day in the state. This is causing anxiousness among the public.
For the first time in the state, 2,000 people got infected in a single day on Wednesday, July 8. In addition, a record number of 54 deaths have also happened in a single day.
On July 5, over 1,925 people got infected in a single day in the state. On July 4, 42 people died. These were the figures that were highest so far. However, on Wednesday, the numbers went higher than this and have caused concern among the public of the state. The total number of infected people in the state has risen to 28,877 and with the death toll reaching 470.
The rate of recovery is at 41.12% in Karnataka compared to 54.60% in Maharashtra and 61.64% overall in India.
The infection in Karnataka has doubled in just nine days. The national average is 20 days. Bengaluru has the fastest doubling rate with the number of infected people increasing in just six days.
Delhi has got a recovery rate of 72.17%, Gujarat has 71.09%, Uttar Pradesh reported 65.25% and Tamil Nadu has a recovery rate of 59.96%. Karnataka lags behind with a recovery rate of only 41.12%.
The percentage of death against the number of people infected is 5.19% in Gujarat, 4.2% in Maharashtra, 3.07% in Delhi, 2.71% in Uttar Pradesh, 1.13% in Telangana and 1.37% in Tamil Nadu.
