Udupi: Fire breaks out at Union Bank of India, no casualties reported

Udupi, Jul 9: A fire broke out at the branch of Union Bank of India (Old Corporation Bank building) near Jamia Masjid in Udupi early morning on Thursday, July 9 at 4.30 am. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The security person who was present in the bank noticed the fire and informed concerned persons. The fire brigade who were informed of the incident reached the spot right on time and extinguished the blaze.

Few of the electronic items like computer, air conditioner and furniture inside the bank were gutted. However, the files did not suffer much of a damage. It is suspected that an electrical short-circuit could have caused the fire. As per a fire service official, the loss estimated from the incident is reportedly over Rs 3 lac.
