Mangaluru, Jul 5: A man who was undergoing treatment for coronavirus at the city's Wenlock hospital has allegedly escaped from the hospital.
A native of Darbe in Puttur, who lives in his grandmother's house in Mangaluru, the 18-year-old youngster, identified as Devaraj, escaped from the hospital on Sunday July 5, sources said.
The youngster had voluntarily visited Wenlock on July 1 to get himself tested for coronavirus. As he displayed symptoms of the virus, he was shifted to COVID ward where doctors were treating him.
On Sunday, his swab test reported confirmed that he had contracted the virus.
At around 4 pm the same day, the youth allegedly escaped from the hospital.
Pandeshwar police have registered a case and search has been launched to locate him. Police have requested help from the public too, and have urged people to contact the control room on 9480802300 or Pandeshwar police on 0824-2220530 if they have any information about his whereabouts.
