Byndoor, Jul 1: Reports said that a SSLC student from Uppunda near here was confirmed to have been infected with coronavirus on Tuesday June 30 evening. She happens to be the third SSLC student from Udupi district to be suffering from this disease.
The student in question had appeared for two examinations at the SSLC examination centre at Byndoor till Saturday. On Saturday evening, she suffered from acute backache. As she had also an examination on Monday, the principal was informed. On Monday, the girl student failed to appear for the examination. Her throat swab sample was sent on Monday for testing and the report received on Tuesday evening confirmed the worst fears.
How the student contracted coronavirus has remained a mystery till now. It is said that people from Maharashtra were in her neighbourhood a few days ago.
This was stated by deputy director of public instruction, Sheshashayana Karinja.
