Mangalore, Feb 17: M B Sadashiva from Sullia, a veteran JD(S) leader and state JD(S) general secretary, has been elevated to the position of the district JD(S) president, in place of Balaraj Rai, the previous incumbent, who deserted the party and joined the Congress Party during the last Lok Sabha election.
Sadashiva had earlier functioned as the district JD(S) president from the year 1997 to 1999. Sadashiva will be taking charge of the district JD(S) during the first week of March, at a time when the party has launched a statewide protest against the acquisition of lands by the state through its ‘Land Bank’ scheme. The party is set to organize a protest under this programme shortly in the city.
