Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 27: On the 20th day of the easing of lockdown, 49 fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 14 new cases were detected in Udupi district on Saturday June 27.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 47,024 people have been screened so far, including 90 on Saturday.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 12,919 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 12,198 have turned out negative, and 576 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 150 are currently active. As many as 416 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 10 deaths have occurred so far.
As many as 38 patients, 29 males and 9 females including three children, were discharged from Wenlock on Saturday.
Three males and one female are serious and are being treated in ICU.
As many as 175 samples were sent for testing on Saturday. Reports of 232 samples were received on Saturday, out of which 49 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 145 samples are awaited.
Among the 49 corona-positive patients tested on Saturday, there are 27 males and 22 females including 8 children. Four among them are Saudi Arabia returnees, seven have travelled from Dubai, one has travelled from Qatar, two from Sharjah, four with severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and three with influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms have tested positive, and the source of infection of six patients is being traced. As many as 17 have contracted infection from P-9590 who tested positive on June 23, one each from P-10581, P-10582 and P-10588, all who tested positive on June 26 and two patients from P-10275 who tested positive on June 25.
A total of 49 persons have been admitted for observation.
Altogether, 6,856 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 29 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.
Udupi
As many as 14 people tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district on Saturday. Among the 14, seven each are males and females including one child. Out of the 14 patients, five are Maharashtra returnees, one has travelled from Telangana, six from the district have contracted the infection from earlier positive tested patients, and one each who have come from Bengaluru and Kumta have tested positive.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,890 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 9 on Saturday, and a total of 4,872 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including one on Saturday. As many as 709 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 75 people are in isolation wards, including 18 fresh admissions on Saturday. Among them, one coronavirus suspect, 10 have SARI and seven influenza-like illness.
As many as 991 people, including 12 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 14,127 samples have been collected so far, including 167 on Saturday, out of which 64 are COVID contacts. Out of them, 12,656 samples have turned out to be negative, including 173 on Saturday, and 332 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,139 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, out of which 1,047 patients have been discharged so far including 10 on Saturday, and 90 cases are currently active. Two deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
