Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 26: On the 19th day of the easing of lockdown, 33 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 9 fresh cases were detected in Udupi district on Friday June 26.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 46,934 people have been screened so far, including 80 on Friday.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 12,744 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 12,015 have turned out negative, and 527 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 139 are currently active. As many as 378 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 10 deaths have occurred so far.
As many as 34 patients, 23 males and 11 females including three children, were discharged from Wenlock on Friday.
Three males and one female are serious and are being treated in ICU.
As many as 280 samples were sent for testing on Friday. Reports of 303 samples were received on Friday, out of which 33 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 202 samples are awaited.
Among the 33 corona-positive patients tested on Friday, there are 18 males and 15 females including a child. Nine among them are Saudi Arabia returnees, six have travelled from Qatar, one has come from Udupi, two with severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and four with influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms have tested positive, and the source of infection of one patient is being traced. One has contracted infection from P-8005, an ILI patient who tested positive on June 19, one from P-8004, an ILI patient who tested positive on June 19, one from P-8006 who tested positive on June 19, another from P-9739, an ILI patient who tested positive on June 24, one from P-10275 who tested positive on June 25 and five have contracted infection from P-9735, an ILI patient who tested positive on June 24.
A total of 61 persons have been admitted for observation.
Altogether, 6,734 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 29 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.
Udupi
As many as 9 people tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district on Friday. Among the 9 patients, 8 are males and one female. Three have travelled from Bengaluru, two are Maharashtra returnees, one each from Muscat, Qatar and Kerala, and the source of infection of one patient is being traced.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,881 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 7 on Friday, and a total of 4,871 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 679 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 69 people are in isolation wards, including 12 fresh admissions on Friday. Among them, one coronavirus suspect, six have SARI and five influenza-like illness.
As many as 979 people, including 11 on Friday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 13,960 samples have been collected so far, including 120 on Friday, out of which 43 are COVID contacts and 12 are COVID suspects. Out of them, 12,483 samples have turned out to be negative, including 147 on Friday, and 352 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,125 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, out of which 1,037 patients have been discharged so far including 17 on Friday, and 86 cases are currently active. Two deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
