Kolkata, Feb 14 (IANS) With the South African cricketers engrossed in the Eden Gardens battle, it was a colourless Valentine's Day Sunday for their wives and girlfriends (WAGs) travelling with the team.
Eyeing a rare Test series win in India, besides reclaiming the position as the top Test team of the world, the Graeme Smith-led South Africans have been all concentration since their arrival in Kolkata Feb 11.
And with the match getting underway on the all-lovers' day, the South African batsmen were busy facing the Indian bowlers.
To prevent any wavering of concentration, the cricketers also did not plan any party for the evening.
"It is a very crucial Test for us. There is lot at stake. So nothing was planned. There would be no party in the evening," South African media manager Michael Owen-Smith told IANS.
Five of the cricketers, including Smith and Paul Harris, have brought their girlfriends to India.
And the quintet of ladies, albeit with a heavy heart, went along with their beaux.
