New Delhi, Apr 25: In a unified and solemn demonstration of grief and resistance, members of the Muslim community across India observed a peaceful protest during Friday prayers, strongly condemning the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives and left many injured.

Mosques in major cities including Hyderabad, Delhi, Bhopal, Varanasi, and Lucknow witnessed large gatherings where worshippers wore black armbands during Juma Namaz as a mark of mourning and defiance against terrorism.

In Hyderabad, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi personally distributed black bands among the faithful before offering prayers at a mosque in Shastripuram. Expressing deep sorrow over the attack, Owaisi conveyed his solidarity with the victims’ families and reiterated the community’s collective stand against violence.

In Delhi, AIMIM’s state president Dr Shoaib Jamai led a peaceful protest during the prayers. “What happened in Pahalgam is extremely unfortunate for our country. Curse be upon those who carried out this heinous act,” said Dr Jamai, who too wore a black band in symbolic protest.

Bhopal saw worshippers gathering at local mosques with black bands already tied to their arms. “We have come here to pray and protest together,” said a youth from the city. Another added, “If the government cannot act against a rogue state like Pakistan, then open the borders Hindus and Muslims together will teach them a lesson. We won’t even take their name.”

In Varanasi, thousands gathered at Jama Masjid in Nadesar, where special prayers were offered for the souls of those killed in the attack. In Lucknow, similar scenes unfolded at the historic Asifi Masjid in the Imambara, where slogans against terrorism and Pakistan were raised in unison.

Across all cities, worshippers offered prayers not just for the victims, but also for the nation’s peace and harmony. “We prayed for those killed in Kashmir and for lasting peace in our country,” said one of the attendees.

The protest was marked by a powerful message: that terrorism has no place in any faith and that the community stands shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the nation in this hour of grief.
