Mangaluru: Shakthi Group of Institutions celebrates International e-Yoga Day

Mangaluru, Jun 22: 'Yoga means union- It is union with the energies of the universe. Practicing yoga alligns the mind and the body with the energies that exist around oneself, and as a result of which one achieves, good health, balanced emotions and better capabilities' said Sanjith Naik, the secretary of Shakthi Education Trust, on the occasion of the sixth International e-Yoga Day celebration by the Shakthi Group of Institutions.

Yogaratna Praveen S, yoga therapist and yoga instructor at the Rashtrothana Vidya Kendra Bengaluru, was the resource person. He opined that yoga is 99% practice and 1% theory and described yoga to be the journey of self through the self, to the self as quoted in the Bhagavad Gita. Yoga means addition. It is the addition of energy, strength and beauty to body, mind and soul. He also added that the body benefits from movement and the mind benefits from stillness. Various stretchings, asanas, pranayama and dhyana were taught to the staff, students and parents as per the yoga day protocol released by Ayush Ministry, Government of India.



• Ramesh K, chief advisor, Prakyath Rai, Institute Development Officer, Prabhakara G S, principal Shakthi PU College, Vidya Kamath, principal Shakthi Residential School, Neema Saxena, co-ordinator Shree Gopalakrishna Pre-School were the prominent personalities present along with the staff, students and their parents. Sreenivas B M, the Physical Education teacher was the co-ordinator.
