Five including three Saudi returnees test corona-positive in DK, 21 fresh cases in Udupi on Jun 14

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 14: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday June 14, reported five fresh coronavirus cases. As many as 21 new cases were detected in Udupi on Sunday.

In Dakshina Kannada, among the five patients, three are males and two females including one child. The two females are pregnant. As many as three have come from Saudi Arabia, one is a Maharashtra returnee and the lone child has contracted the infection from P-4526, a 43-year-old man who came from Mumbai on May 19 to Udupi and later to Mangaluru after completing his quarantine period on June 6.

All of them have been admitted to the designated COVID hospital in the district.

Seven patients who recovered were discharged on Sunday.

With this, the total tally of coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada has risen to 276 (including 10 from other districts), out of which 122 are currently active. As many as 153 patients have recovered and been discharged, and eight have died.

As many as 21 cases were reported in Udupi on Sunday. The patients are 16 males and five females including two children. Eighteen of them Maharashtra returnees, one each have a travel history of coming from Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh and one patient who contracted the infection from P-5667 who was tested positive on June 8. 

As many as 69 patients who recovered were discharged on Sunday.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Udupi district are 1,025 at present, out of which 235 are active, 789 discharged, and one patient has died.
