Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 11: Two fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 22 new cases were detected in Udupi on Thursday June 11. As many as eight and 91 people who recovered were discharged in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts respectively.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 43,324 people have been screened so far. A total of 10,181 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 9,795 have tested negative, and 224 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 92 are currently active. As many as 125 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.
Eight patients were discharged from Wenlock on Thursday. These six males, a woman and a 15-year-old boy.
As many as 205 samples were sent for testing on Thursday. Reports of 103 samples were received on Thursday, out of which two tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 162 samples are awaited.
In Dakshina Kannada, among the two patients, one male is a Maharashtra returnee aged 33 another is a woman aged 45. The woman has contracted the infection from a person who returned from Mumbai on May 13 and tested positive on June 4.
As many as 17 persons were admitted on Thursday for observation.
A total of 5,408 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Thursday, 27 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
Udupi
As many as 22 cases were reported in Udupi on Thursday. Twelve male and 10 female including four children tested positive for coronavirus. Among the 22, 20 patients have arrived from Maharashtra, while the source of infection in the remaining patients is yet to be traced. There is one health worker and a group D employee among the 22 people who are tested positive today.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,687 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 97 on Thursday, and a total of 4,851 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including six on Thursday. As many as 403 persons are currently in home quarantine and 379 people under institutional quarantine. As many as one high-risk patient is under hospital quarantine.
A total of 80 people are in isolation wards, including 16 fresh admissions on Thursday. Among them, one is a coronavirus suspect, while eight have SARI and seven influenza-like illness.
As many as 813 people, including six on Thursday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 12,695 samples have been collected so far, including 15 on Thursday. Out of them, 11,679 samples have turned out to be negative, including 67 on Thursday, and 48 reports are awaited. As many as 968 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district. As many as 550 patients have been discharged including 91 on Thursday, and 417 cases are active. One death has occurred so far.
