Chamarajanagar, Jun 6: Chamarajanagar in the state has become the second corona-free district in South India. The only other district to have earned this distinction happens to be Warangal rural district in Telangana.
The website, www.covid19.org, publishes statistics of coronavirus in the country every day. The site has earmarked the above two districts as corona-free.
Among the South Indian states, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have coronavirus infection in all the districts. Warangal Rural district has never witnessed corona positive cases so far. The district is covered by forests and almost entirely made up of villages. It also has a meagre number of people coming from abroad, it is learnt.
On account of pre-emptive measures undertaken by the district administration, health department, municipality and panchayats, Chamarajanagar district has not come across any corona positive cases so far.
Deputy commissioner of Chamarajanagar district Dr M R Ravi, received a phone call from union health minister Harsh Vardhan, to congratulate him on this achievement and also to wish that the district will remain so even in the future.
