'210 new coronavirus cases recorded in Udupi on Jun 2' - Minister Ashoka

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, Jun 2: As many as 210 people have tested positive in the district on a single day. The figure has stunned the state.

Minister R Ashoka who gave the information about it in Bengaluru said that it is decided to keep a close watch on people arriving from Maharashtra as most of them are found to be infected.

The virus was confirmed in 260 people so far in the district. With the addition of 210 cases, the figure has shot up to 470.

The district was at ease without any coronavirus cases about a month ago. The cases are rising now. The reports of throat swabs of people who have arrived from other states including Maharashtra are reaching the hands of district administration. Among the infected being found now, most had completed their quarantine period and reached home. The coronavirus infection among those who have gone home has caused anxiety among people.

Seven days institutional quarantine and seven days home quarantine has been advised for returnees from Maharashtra. Discussions are being held to quarantine people arriving from other states also. The guidelines will be released soon, said home minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Mumbai is densely populated and if one person in the slum is infected he will transfer it to many because they are using the common toilet facilities. There are many asymptomatic cases who also transfer the virus unknowingly.

Somebody is telling Thackeray is not doing the proper job and he should be replaced with Fadnavis. But what he would have done more? It is the hub of the entry for international passengers and lakhs of people entered when Corona was active elsewhere in the world. Even during Namaste Trump around 5000 to 6000 foreigners entered and exited from here. Late screening at airport has cost to the people of Mumbai. Maharashtra CM was talking of lockdown even before national lockdown was announced.

Most of the Building Complex are controlling the movement of people and not allowing outsiders. There is strict social distancing in mega shops. Only area not controllable are slums and the virus is spreading in this areas rapidly.

For all this mess only one man is responsible. Others are doing their best with their limited resources.

From those People who don’t maintain Covid 19 guidelines it is useless to expect anything from them. Only we should maintain strict face mask and safe distancing. Lockdown should be kept on with all commercial activities in operation by following all strict guideline. Inter state transport should be provided to only those who stuck in that state and emergency cases. Army should have been called to maintain all guidelines.
We find some ministers, police officials and people like kumar Anna are not wearing masks even now. Punish those people who are not wearing mask by leaving them out of the city about 10 km. Mainly shop keepers.Give them black points. Construction activities should have been on Providing transport to workers.
No use Of blaming any government or their planning. They are also new to this deadly situation. We / you can not blame our parents for their wrong planning.

All this is the result of the unplanned lock-down without taking into account the ground realities by the Babus just like the earlied failed demonetisation (note bandi) efforts.

At least 7 days time should have been given before starting the Lock down with a message to migrants that if they wish to leave to their native places, they can leave within this time. However, it was done without giving any time just 4 hours.

Lakhs of migrants, sick and pregnant women who want to leave would have left the cities at that time to their home towns. Moreoever, the number of corona cases too were in two digits and below 50 at that time.

Lockdown could have been started two weeks earlier, instead waiting for The Namaste Trump program costing crores and breathing time given to Madhya Pradesh MLA's to topple the Govt.

Now, instead of blaming the people and migrants for this menace, the people in power should admit the lapses by a through introspection where they went wrong and try to avoid such errors in future and try to remedy the situation at the earlest.

    Lockdown was RIGHT.

There would have been 56 lakh dead people without lockdown, based on Projections. People would have died on Road, across India, without Hospital Bed (as it is happening Now, in Mumbai)

    - In Italy, News Media leaked lockdown news, before Official announcement. Migrants, Students & working class took last available Transport to Remote Villages,.

Corona Virus spread to remote villages & it was not possible to control it.

Because of Lockdown, In DK & Udupi - Covid-19, if comes in Inna or Bajpe or Some remote village - we know it, because - it is regulated interstate movement.

What if. 1 week given to people to go home, Covid-19 would have spread to remote villages - It would have been difficult to manage afterwards.

    - If all states controlled Corona virus effectively, we would have had ZERO cases, across India. But, some states did not do it properly.

    - This is first time in lifetime of everyone. So, No one thought, this will be so serious. Because SARS & MERS - which are also based on Corona virus died Natural death.

    - ICMR Projection shows JULY-End as the Peak cases for India... So, next 2 months are crucial.

Because they were not allowed to travel when the situation was under control due to unplanned and sudden lockdown. When the situation was uncontrollable the people are allowed to travel so the no one will blame the authorities.

There should be more stircter policing of the movement of people and more regulation in shops and other activities. - Community Transfer - Stage 4 - In Mumbai, Pune & most of Maharastra
    - Exact Identity of Patient - Stage 1 - In Udupi. No community transfer.

Government is testing Every patient coming to the hospital with Respiratory issues - SARI (Severe Acute Respiratory Infection) & ILI (Influenza-like illness).

Still almost no SARI & ILI patients in DK & Udupi are having Covid-19 virus - in last 2 weeks.

So, No Community transmission in Udupi & DK.

But, in Maharashtra, there is Stage 4 - Community transmission. Because of Pathetic leadership.

And now, it is spreading the illness to every corner of the country.

Inter state travel needs to be regulated properly.

Travel needs to be allowed only after Covid 19 test and only for essential travel.

    1. If covid 19 positive wants to travel - can travel only at his/her cost in ambulance under strict measures and admitted to hospital at destination.
    2. Covid 19 negative's travel should be done as per quarantine rules.

Otherwise we will spoil all the lockdown benefits in a matter of few days for no fault of residents of the region.

Central Govt should interfere immediately before it goes out of control of DC's of district.

School reopening is a Social Question..
Pulse Polio vaccination drive ONLY for less than 5 year old children took 20 yrs to control the disease.

As Covid-19 will take 1-3 years to go, can we do online classes for students for 3 years is a Question?

Also, Students from Poor families, SC, ST, Backward classes are committing Suicide as Rich students with latest gadgets & equipments are doing digital learning. [Effectiveness & Focus of student in Digital learning is still a question].

Vaccine is at-least 1 year away & manufacturing setup will take another 6 months.
To produce in large numbers & give it to everyone in the world will take 10 yrs.(Year 2030 - Optimistic goal)

Keeping a close watch on people coming from MH is not the way; just don't allow them into the district at any cost. Disease is brought in by outsiders and not homegrown. We cannot have a situation where some percentage of people are covid ridden and rest of the people live in fear of the disease.

** FLATTEN THE CURVE and BREAK THE CHAIN **

Maharashtra needs a better leadership with Devendra Fadnavis. The current government is NOT able to stop Corona Virus

    - Dead bodies are kept with patients as Morgues have become Full
    - 3 People are sharing 1 Bed
    - Admitted people are sleeping on floor, bcz of shortage of beds
    - More patients than Number of Doctors, Nurses, ICUs, Ventilators, Rooms, Beds etcc.. In Maharashtra.

Why large city Bangalore records less than 5 cases per day. Where as in Mumbai, overall case is 60,000 & Increasing every day.

Why they did not create additional bed facility like Cities of Karnataka.

Mangalore converted a New Ayush Building to Covid-19 dedicated hospital & New Library to be inaugurated to the Field Hospital for Covid-19.

This happened in Every district & Taluka headquarters. Why Maharashtra Leadership did not do this?

Why dead bodies are kept with patients, as there is shortage of place for keeping dead bodies.
One Bed is shared by Three people.
Shortage of Doctors, Nurses, Beds, Rooms, ICUs, Ventilators, Oxygen in Maharastra..

We are still 2 months away from Peak cases, according to ICMR Graph. What will happen to Maharashtra in July - End?

    My suggestion is :
    1. Compulsory Institutional Quarantine for 7 days
    2. Covid swab test to be taken on 6th day and sent for testing
    3. Only People who have got negative test results with no symptoms to be allowed to go for 7 days home quarantine.
    4. People who have symptoms but still got negative result to be kept for additional 2 days and swab to be resent for testing on 8th day.
    5. Home quarantine people to be followed up by health department and other agencies for every 2 days until 14th day.
