Bengaluru, Jun 2: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who held a review meeting with Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of seven districts including coastal Udupi, has asked the DCs, SPs and Chief Executive Officers of Zilla panchayats to regularly visit and stay in taluks coming under their jurisdictions for holding periodic monitoring of the COVID 19 control measures.
The Chief Minister held the review with the DCs, SPs and CEOs of Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Raichuru, Belagavi, Bidar and Udupi districts through video conferencing from Bengaluru on Tuesday asked the revenue and police administrations in the districts following the lockdown relaxations already announced with effect from June 8, particularly with regard to temples and all other places of worship, malls etc.
The district administration, especially in the border districts, must be very alert in view of the arrival of the migrants from Maharashtra, which is one of the worst Corona affected states in the country.
“Steps must be taken to ensure that the people arriving from other states must be directed to undergo home quarantine in order to prevent the spread of the Corona infection,’’ he said asking the top bureaucrats in the districts to be extra cautious and vigilant in enforcing the guidelines announced by the Centre.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to ensure that the supply of the COVID 19 test kits must be ensured without any interruption and those undergoing home quarantine must not be allowed to flout the norms.
Police security must be provided near the residences of the people undergoing home quarantine, the Chief Minister said directing the district administrations to constitute task forces in all gram panchayats with the GP members to be entrusted to ensure that the norms were followed strictly.
There should be regular mechanism to receive and monitor reports from the GPs and even from the booth levels on a daily basis, the Chief Minister said.
Yediyurappa asked the district administrations to ensure that task forces must be set up in all GP and towns from the ward level itself and also ensure that FIRs were filed in case of any violation of the home quarantine restrictions.
The Chief Minister directed that the bodies of the deceased persons from outside the States must not be allowed to be brought into the State under any circumstances.
With the SSLC/PUC examinations scheduled commence, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to take all necessary precautions to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations.
Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Revenue Minister R Ashok, Chief Secretary T M Vijaya Bhaskar, Development Commissioner Vandita Sharma, DGP Praveen Sood, Health and Family Welfare Department Principal Secretary Javed Akhtar and Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey participated in the review meeting.
Rs 666 cr DBT to maize and floriculture farmers
The Chief Minister later reviewed the performance of the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments at another video conference.
Yediyurappa also released the 100-days performance report of Agriculture and Horticulture Departments and ensured that the State Government’s sanction of Rs 666 crore compensation to the bank accounts of the maize growers and floriculturists through online Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Agriculture Minister B C Patil, Horticulture and Sericulture Minister K Narayana Swamy, Agriculture Department Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar Kataria, Development Commissioner Vandita Sharma and other senior officials were present during the review meeting.
