Kundapur, May 30: A woman, who arrived 15 days ago from Mumbai to Barikere, under Kotatattu gram panchayat limits, to her residence, tested positive for coronavirus in the result that arrived on Friday, May 29. She is admitted to the Covid hospital in Udupi.
A team consisting Brahmavar tahsildar Kiran Gowraiah, RI Raju, village accountant Cheluvaraju, police station officer Rajshekhar Vandali, medical officer of community health center Dr Vishwanath, Dr Naveen and Asha workers visited the residence of the woman and sealed down ten houses around the house of the infected woman. The tahsildar has warned all the people living in the ten houses not to venture out. Kotatattu gram panchayat development officer is given instructions to supply grocery and essential to the members of ten houses.
The woman who tested positive had given her throat swab sample 14 days ago, when she arrived from Mumbai and was kept in government quarantine center at Hattiangadi. As her test result did not arrive even after 14 days, she was sent home. So she had arrived to her residence in the evening on Thursday but was taken to Covid hospital in Udupi on Friday. One of her sons is kept in isolation ward.
In addition to the area where the woman tested positive, various parts of the taluk like Kodi, Basrur, Neralakatte and Halnadu are sealed. This is done for people who were confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19 on the next day of going home as per government orders before the test results arrived. A 200-meter area around the house of the infected person is sealed down in all cases.
Kodi, Basrur, Neralakatte and Halnadu under Kundapur rural police station limits are sealed down. Marvi of Vandaru village under Amasebailu police station limits and Barikere under Kota police station limits is also sealed down.
In all the cases, the infected people had returned to their homes on May 28 as per government orders before the test results arrived. Now as they have tested positive, the areas around their houses are sealed down.
