Udupi, May 25: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that in domestic flights which will resume today, wearing of masks and maintaining social distance are being enforced strictly.
Addressing media persons on Monday, May 25, he said that passengers are being allowed to take the flights after being subjected to certain checks. "We have to learn to live with coronavirus. Therefore, this is important. Steps needed to control the infection will be taken at the airports. People coming from other states will be placed under 14 days of compulsory quarantine. Only those passengers who agree to this condition can board the flights," he stated.
Relating to the pressure of passengers coming into the state from Maharashtra, Nalin confessed that he too is under tremendous pressure. "It is but normal for politicians. The people there are like our family members, and we understand their suffering and problems. We too are under obligation to respond to their problems. Therefore, in spite of facing a lot of problems, we have been making arrangements for them. Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district administrations are in readiness. The health department has made arrangements to handle such an eventuality. However, to exercise control, borders with Maharashtra and Kerala have been closed for a few days. Once the current term of quarantine ends, more people will be allowed inside, and arrangements have been made for that," he explained.
