Kasargod, May 4: The district is on its path to be free from the deadly coronavirus. Only three people from the district are under treatment in hospital. Out of 178 infected people, 175 have cured and have been discharged from hospital.
The virus had created panic in the district from March 17 for about three weeks, but the number of people who are getting cured is increasing since the last two weeks.
Positive cases have seen a drastic decrease.
There were no positive cases since the last four days. Two Chengala based people and one in Chemnad gram panchayat limits are under treatment at present.
People stranded in other states of the country, Kasargod and Kerala are returning home in view of coronavirus. Helpdesks are arranged at Talapady border for them. Several people including students and elderly have reached since Monday morning. Most of the students among them are students of colleges in Karnataka. Hundreds of people will be reaching from Goa, Maharashtra and other places. Those who have registered in website will be reaching on stipulated days. Those who need to reach soon will be helped at the helpdesks. There are 60 help desks at present. Officials said that their number will be raised to 100 soon.
A team of doctors is arranged to examine patients with coronavirus symptoms. A fire service vehicle is kept as stand by round the clock at the border in order to make Kerala coronavirus-free.
Those who want to return to Kerala should register their names on www.registernorkaroots.org and https://covid19jagratha.kerala.nic.in/addDomestic websites. Those who have not registered, should not arrive through Talapady inspection centre, said deputy commissioner Dr D Sajith Babu. Those who have not registered can spot register at helpdesks at Talapady. Those who have registered, will be given priority, he said.
