Kasargod, Apr 28: As many as 89 coronavirus infected persons admitted in Kasargod general hospital have reached homes after getting healed. The hospital had the highest number of admissions for coronavirus infected patients. A Vidyanagar-based youth who had returned from Dubai was the last patient discharged on Tuesday, April 28. Eighty-eight patients were discharged during the last few days. There are 14 patients in the district at present. They are under treatment at Ukkinadka based district medical college hospital and district hospital.
As many as 176 infected persons were detected in the district. A total of 162 among them are discharged from the hospital after getting healed. Besides children and women there were people aged above 60 years among them. The service of more than 200 staff including doctors was commendable. They have taken major part in the cure. The first infected person was admitted to the general hospital on March 16. The war against the virus began in the special ward for virus infected patients opened in the general hospital. The number of infected patients increased as the days passed by.
Kasargod general hospital has become a role model due to the untiring efforts by 49 doctors, 91 nurses, 21 temporary staff, lab technician, pharmacist, ambulance drivers and cleaning staff during last 46 days which made 89 patients get healed and reach homes.
The team of doctors in the leadership of district medical officer A V Ramadas and head of the general hospital K Rajaram kept a close watch, reviewed the situation, planned their moves, filled the patients with confidence and took necessary precautions.
The services of head of the hospital Dr K K Rajaram, assistant director Geeta Gurudas, Dr Ganesh, Dr Kunhiraman, Dr Krishna Naik, Dr Janardhan Naik, Dr Nisar Ahmed, Dr Jitin Raj, Dr R Praveen and Dr Aparna are being applauded by all.
Virus was detected in a person after three days
Two people are discharged from the hospital. The virus was detected in a 24-year-old man residing in Ajanoor. With it the number of infected persons in the district has gone up to 176. 14 others are also under treatment. The remaining patients have returned after getting cured. As many as 1,958 people are under observation in the district. A total of 1,923 among them are in their houses and 35 people are in isolation wards. One person is discharged from Kasargod general hospital and another person is discharged from district hospital. As many as 162 people declared as coronavirus positive have recovered. With it the recovery rate has gone up to 92.3%.
Samples of 4,189 people are sent for tests. Among them the results of 3,179 people was negative. The results of 669 people is awaited.
