Mangaluru, Apr 27: At a time when the mood everywhere is sombre as the coronavirus has taken the centre stage, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has undertaken the initiative to begin fever clinic mobile bus service.
The mobile fever clinic proposes to be of use to rural people. The new concept will be executed soon and people can expect the clinic to take shape in a couple of days.
KSRTC had closed down operations when the nation-wide lockdown was enforced. The company, as per an estimate, is incurring loss of about Rs 20 crore per month on an average. As per the new initiative, a bus from Mangaluru division will be remodelled to create examination room for the patient, lab, toilet, water, lighting etc. Medical staff will have provision to sit.
Division controller of KSRTC here, Arun Kumar S S, said that the fever clinic vehicle is being prepared with the support of Dakshina Kannada district administration and health department. This vehicle will tour around rural areas where people having health issues can get themselves examined. The vehicle also will assist if the people need to be admitted into the district hospital if they are facing health problems of serious nature, he said.
The district administration has sought seven such buses for health department. Three buses will be for emergency service of health department, two for staff of deputy commissioner's office, and two for operations in B C Road.
