Brahmavar: Thieves break into bar, decamp with Rs 1.5 lac worth liquor

Brahmavar, Apr 24: Thieves broke into Chakravarthy Bar and Restaurant at Hangarakatte of Balkudru village in the intervening period of 8 pm of April 22 to 1 pm of April 23 and decamped with liquor bottles worth Rs 1.5 lac.

The bar was sealed as per the lockdown instructions since March 21. Shankara A Kunder (55), a resident of Sri Nadabrahma, Irodi Alsebettu of Irodi village in the taluk, owner of the bar used to come to the bar every day to check the seal put by the excise department is intact or not.

On the afternoon of April 23, Bhoja Devadiga, an employee of the bar, called owner Shankara and told him that the rear window of the bar is smashed and the tiles of the roof of the bar were removed. Shankara immediately informed the same to the police and excise officials, who in turn visited the spot immediately.

While checking it was found that the thieves have broken into the bar by removing the asbestos sheet of the roof of the bar. While checking the stock it was found that 31.25 boxes of liquor amounting to 266.735 litres worth Rs 1.5 lac is stolen by the thieves..

A case in this regard is registered at Kota Police station.
