Bengaluru: CM's coronavirus relief fund not receiving enough contributions

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Apr 23: The state government, which has declared war against the deadly coronavirus infection, is waiting for contributions from generous donors to the CM's COVID 19 relief fund created by the chief minister to carry on its fight. Till now only Rs 164 crore has come into the account, which is far below the expectations. This includes Rs 30 crore received for Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Authority under revenue department.

CMRF COVID-19 fund was created on March 23. Initially, donations were sought through NEFT and RTGS. Later even Google Pay, Phone Pe, PayTM, cheques, internet banking, online transfers etc were allowed as authorized forms for fund transfers. Even though the donations to the funds picked up since March 30, there has been sluggishness again in the inflow now.

B S Yediyurappa

Those who donate online get receipt immediately and a thanking letter goes from the chief minister's office. Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, has appealed to the non-resident Kannadiga’s to generously contribute to the fund. He has also requested Kannadiga’s settled in USA, Germany, France, Australia, Britain etc to donate to the fund on humanitarian grounds.

So far, the fund has received Rs 25 crore from KPTCL, Rs 18 crore from KPTCL Corporation, five crore rupees from Cooperative Apex Bank, five crore rupees from Karnataka Milk Federation and five crore rupees from Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd, who happen to the major contributors. The other contributions are three crores or less.

Those contributing to the fund get tax concession and exemption under corporate social responsibility. Considering that even poor people have been donating to the cause, the government has requested rich persons to be generous in contributing to this fund.

We are in need for funds too... No salaries and business shut down... Can't pressurise owners as they r incurring loses too ... The little we have we will donate to poor people directly or to charitable trust who are helping the needy... Don't want our hard earned money used for next elections ..

I do not think we the people have to contribute to the Govt., for covid19 relief fund. Enough has been given by all kind of taxation. There are more than enough cororpathy MLAS who lavishly spend on weddings and other party functions who can be tapped and also rich corporations who give generously to the party funds. It is better to help the known needy near at home or through known NGOs. Besides where has the lakhs of crore sanctioned money both by central and state governments? The present MLAs and corporators seem to spend a little bit of released money to help the needy but make sure that this is publicized on every media as if they spending their personal money? And that too without social distancing themselves.

Grains are rotting while millions are going hungry all over the country.
NRIs are stuck in GCC without any assistance to return to the country.
Still Yeddy is seeking help from poor, and NRIs.

Can Modi and Yeddy give account of all tax money collected, and the way spent for the people, and especially the funds collected by Modi and Yeddy in the name of Covid relief fund so far???

    Fellow citizens,
Don't ever make the stupid mistake of donating to govt., instead, reach out to needy family members, friends, your employees, elderly, sick, homeless people around you, or even donate charity drive by DW (if they have one).

God will be gracious unto you. Jai Hind!!!!

    Jai Hind!!!

Reddy brothers, Nirani, Kharge, Vijayendra, Eshwarappa, Ashok, Siddaramaiah, Deshpande, Zameer
Ahmed, Roshan Beig, Rahaman Khan, Kumara swamy and many many others for money to fight corona virus. Besides what is the use of crores of party funds lying with BJP and Congress if it does not come in handy for a genuine cause.

I really wish to contribute but don't want to regret later after a scam comes to light. PM Cares is going to be a massive scam as there are no independent auditors. These politicians have enough money for horse trading, but not for donating. Such self centered individuals are not needed. In fact, smaller associations formed by the general public have served the society much more even with limited resources

I understand the central govt. made it mandatory that the CSR benefit will only be given to PM Cares fund donors. No state government will be allowed to use the tag CSR.So which businessman can contribute to CM fund. I personally contributed to an NGO that delivered the required goods to the needy and I received also the receipt which can be used for tax benefits. There are lot of people who contributed to NGOs so that the money is used worthfully than putting it into PM Cares or CM cares fund.

I would rather feed ten hungry mouths directly than donate even a rupee to such funds. There are big 'thimingilas' sitting masquerading as politicians. This presents the best chance for our politicians to show their so called patriotism. Let's see how patriot our politicians are. Of what use is all that ill gotten wealth of theirs if they don't loosen their purse strings now?

When Modi announced "PM Cares" fund, all donors donated their contribution to this account. Even though there was official PM Relief fund, nobody bothered about it. Nobody bothered about their own state CM Relief fund as well!
Now, it is Modi's call, to distribution of donations among states. No CM can fight for it as well, because, it is not coming from official PM Relief fund.
Hope, he will not do partiality while helping states, without keeping upcoming assembly elections in mind.

During election time declaration they show the wealth more than 100, 500 crores . Who’s money is this.?? People are struggling to get livelihood.. Atleast be roll model to others by contributing in crores to the relief Fund

First of all people don't believe in donating to Govt. relief fund because of not sure it will be used in right way rather directly helping people is far better.

Second how much each politicians donated to this fund? State have richest politicians like Reddy brother's, DK Shivakumar, Mallikarjun Kharge and many more who spend crores of rupees on marriages, horse trading etc. But when it comes to donating to Nobel cause all their pockets are tight.

Yesterday reading an article about Muslim brother's in Kolar sold their plot to feed the needy people and many such individuals helping the needy in their own way and i feel that is better way of helping.

Why do governments ask citizens to contribute? Use your own money. We citizens save money for emergency after being subject to harsh taxation. Do they pay us dividends when then earn surplus from oil and excise duty?
