Mangalore, Dec 15: Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, has suspended a police constable named Bhaskar from Konaje police station, from service. The constable in question has been charged with being unable to produce video recording of the provocative speech advocate Jagadish Shenava, who is the secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishat, had reportedly delivered at Konaje.
It is gathered that Shenava, addressing the protestors, who had held a meeting opposite Konaje police station recently against ‘Love Jehad’, had talked provocatively about the need to teach a lesson to Love Jehadis. The policemen had suo motu, registered a criminal case against Shenava in this regard. Shenava has not been arrested so far.
In the meanwhile, Bhaskar, who had videographed the event, was asked to furnish the video clipping of the above event, as it is required to corroborate the charges. It is said, he expressed his inability, as the event was not found to have been recorded. He has been suspended for dereliction of duty, it is learnt.
