Bangalore, Dec 12: The High Court has ordered notice to the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) in connection with land acquisition at Doddategur.
Hearing a petition filed by Babu Reddy and other residents of the village, who had moved the High court challenging the land acquisition by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) for NICE project, Justice Ajit Gunjal has ordered this notice.
The petitioners said that following the preliminary notification in 1999 and final notification in 2003, they had filed an objection, which was overlooked by KIADB. They said that the respondents on November 23, 2009 tried to dispossess them forcibly.
The petitioners also submitted that despite the NICE road project alignment situated 150 meters away from their property, the respondents wrongfully notified their land for acquisition.
Petition dismissed
The High Court has dismissed a petition seeking to postpone the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) election and the forthcoming elections to Legislative Council.
The petitioner K J Nagaraj and others had moved the High Court seeking to postpone the polls saying it was a waste of money.
The division bench comprising Justice K L Manjunath and Justice Arvind Kumar who dismissed the petition said, dates of elections had been fixed and calender of event had been announced and it cannot be postponed.
