Mangaluru: Family from Kerala crosses over 'illegally' by boat to Talapady, police file case

Updated

Mangaluru, Apr 10: A case was registered against the family from Kerala which crossed over illegally by boat to reach Talapady and cross over to Addur.

A press release from police said, “On April 9, a person by name, Yakoob (48) crossed over to Talapady along with his family from Kerala. It is made out that he had used sea/water route to cross over in a boat to Talapady. It is alleged that one person by name Shakir had aided his transit and provided all logistical support for him to land at Talapady and cross over to Addur.

“Yakoob has violated all norms issued by the central and state governments to curtail the spread of pandemic. He has blatantly put himself, his family members and the general public at risk, which attracts penal provisions under various sections of law. Hence in this connection a case has been registered at Bajpe police station against Yakoob and six others. The investigation is under progress.

“Keeping in view of seriousness of the situation all accused in this case have been sent for medical check up to Wenlock hospital in coordination with district health officials. The quarantine status of the below mentioned individuals will be monitored by liaison with the district health officers,” the release stated.

    So true. I agree.
People are losing their humanity in this crisis.
It's rightly said "how a man behaves when chips are down, that is what he is truly made of. And this crisis is bringing out a lot of selfish roaches to the fore by the hour.

These kind of people from kerala will spread the disease across Mangalore. Why did they travel clandestinely? definitely they are hiding something. The concerned authorities should deal with it with utmost impunity. Ordinary Mangalorean is following the lockdown despite facing hardships so that the infection can be contained and people from Kerala sneak in illegally into our state risking our healths.

Some people from Kerala really really love Mangalore i think...they are taking so much risk and stubbornness to cross borders. Whole of india is closing regional borders to control the pandemic, and here we see people hell bent to spread the virus to DK

There is no other way than strictly closing all the possible routes to and from Kerala! Emergency cases should be treated in their respective States itself! Our people do not go to Kerala for any emergency! Why our Administration is still sleeping?? Do they want to put whole of Mangalore population in Home quarantine??

You never know what people hiding might be carrying. Holding at gun point doesn't mean we will shot them or cut their heads off use some sense our police don't have vests also when they are on duty that's why keep them at gunpoint so they have control
