Udupi, Nov 7: Two Kerala natives, who were visiting home from the Gulf, were arrested after allegedly crashing their car into another vehicle and an advertisement board in a drunken stupor.

The accused, Dheeraj (28) and Gautam (30), had been to Malpe beach and were returning to Kerala in their Innova. While intoxicated, they reportedly collided with a Maruti Alto near Pangala and fled without stopping. Padubidri police alerted the Hejmady toll gate personnel, who intercepted the vehicle.

Upon spotting police and toll personnel, the suspects reversed the car and tried to escape back toward Padubidri. However, their vehicle crashed into an advertisement pole near the entrance to Sri Mahalingeshwara Mahaganapati temple on Old MBC Road, severely damaging the front of the car. Padubidri police, who were pursuing them, promptly apprehended the two men.
