Bangalore, Dec 10: It was a great celebration, as the archdiocese celebrated the annual feast of St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral along with Dr Bernard Moras’ 42 years of priestly ordination, here recently.
Despite chill weather, people gathered in large numbers in open air at the grounds of SFX which was packed. High mass was celebrated by archbishop Moras concelebrated with 10 more priests.
Archbishop Moras in his homily said a lot of wonderful things about St Francis Xavier, who is not only the patron saint of the archdiocese, but also the patron saint of India who spread the good news of the gospel widely. He urged the people to follow St Francis Xaviers’s teachings. He thanked the congregation for actively participating in the holy mass.
At the end of the service, the parishioners presented a chariot along with St Francis Xaviers’s image lit up to the skies, which was blessed by archbishop. This was followed by a procession in and around the area in which faithful participated in large numbers.
