Kundapur, Apr 8: Kundapur’s Surgical India Private Limited Company is determined to fight against Covid-19 that has created panic, caused thousands of deaths and lockdowns in the world. While all the factories in the state have declared lockdowns and the employees have stayed at home, the company has joined in the fight against the virus by working round the clock.
The company situated at Uppunda is manufacturing and supplying products necessary in medical sector by the brand name Dhatri since 2012. The company which manufactures disposable kits necessary for surgeries and supplies them in and outside the state was awarded Sir M Vishweshwaraya award by department of industries of state government for the year 2018-2019. The company is entrusted with additional responsibility after the onset of Covid–19 virus. Udupi district administration has asked the company to manufacture and supply PPE kits that are used in the fight against Covid–19. Company managing director B S Suresh Shetty and director Panduranga Padiyar have taken the responsibility as a challenge in the cooperation of staff. Their goal is to manufacture 5,000 kits per day and they are working day and night towards it. Expert tailors from Bengaluru too are working here. More than one lac kits are already manufactured and supplied by the company already. There is demand for another five lac kits. It is said that more kits will be manufactured according to the demand from hospitals.
The kits have glouse, caps, mask and gowns, shoe legging and aprons. Those are being manufactured in different sections here. The workers are subjected to medical check-ups, provided masks, gloves and scarps considering their health. Kits are manufactured with the help of enthusiastic young people.
B S Suresh Shetty said that it is the responsibility of the surgical company to stand with the district administration in between deadly pandemic. Panduranga Padiyar said that it is our duty to join hands with the government and departments in their fight against coronavirus.
