Bangalore, Dec 9: Surprisingly, Chief Justice (CJ) of the state High Court, Justice P D Dinakaran, did not take part in the proceedings of the court on Monday December 7. The hearing in most of thecases listed before the CJ’s bench were cancelled. A few cases were listed before the division bench headed by Justice V Gopal Gowda.
Reportedly, the Chief Justice is in Delhi, as the union government has declined the recommendation for his promotion, without assigning any reasons. The issue now stands transferred to the Supreme Court collegium, which is expected to take a final decision abut him on Tuesday December 8. Before the collegium arrives at a final decision, it is said, the CJ wants to put forth his side of the story on the allegations levelled against him.
In the meanwhile, advocate and member of Judicial Accountability and Reforms Committee New Delhi, Prashant Bhushan, said on Monday, that the committee has through a memorandum, requested the Congress Party, BJP, CPI and JDU, to begin the process of censure in the parliament, towards setting in motion the process of impeachment of Karnataka High Court Chief Justice, P D Dinakaran.
