Bahrain: Konkan Singers Club Celebrate St Cecilia’s Feast

Bahrain, Dec 8:  Konkan Singers Club, one of the prestigious here celebrated the feast of their patron St Cecilia and 32nd annual day along with Christmas tree party at the Baan Saeng Thai Restaurant auditorium, Adliya, recently.

The function that saw a gathering of over 500 began at 12.00 noon. Oswald D’Souza, the compere, welcomed the gathering and invited them for the opening dance session, which was accepted by the members and families who danced gracefully to the tune of the Night Shades, a popular band on the island.



The second session was the Christmas Tree Party for children, where Santa distributed gifts to members’ children below 12 years of age. The session included Christmas carols. 

Later members witnessed cultural dances performed by members’ children Nisha Gomes, Jerald Noronha, Jovita D’Silva, Ryan Fernandes, Lavita Fernandes, Rencilla Fernandes and Eunice D’Souza.

The executive committee then cut the cake and opened champagne bottles to mark the feast and 32nd annual day. President Henry D’Almeida in his speech thanked the sponsors, executive committee and all the members for patronizing the event. 

Chief guest, Philip D’Mello, a well known toastmaster and District 79 governor in his speech requested the members to discipline their children when they are young. He further offered to start a Gavel Club in Konkan Singers Club for the benefit of the members’ children.
