Mangalore, Dec 7: Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) here, Prof Hilda Rayappan, has filed a complaint with the policemen, alleging that the deputy director of the district women and child welfare department here, has taken away certain papers relating to the judicial investigations, which belong to the Child Welfare Committee located in Bondel in the city, without obtaining any permission.
In the complaint, she said that the deputy director of the said department, Shakuntala, and other staff members of the department, had visited the CWC office on Friday December 4, and had forcibly taken away records pertaining to certain cases like rape attempt, rape of a child in the hospital, sexual abuse of two boys and some other cases. A couple of these cases are pending in the state High Court, she added.
“The records have been taken away at a time when they are under investigation. As there are chances of misusing them, the records should be immediately handed back to the CWC. Legal action should be taken against those who took away the documents forcibly without permission,” she demanded in a complaint filed in Kavoor police station in the city.
Sub-inspector of the police station, Anantapadmanabha, said that the policemen are enquiring into the matter.
