Bantwal, Apr 2: In spite of the fact that lockdown is in force, illegal cattle transportation is happening. Personnel of Vittal police station, who got reliable information about this fact, on Wednesday, April 1, conducted a raid and succeeded in taking possession of a vehicle along with three cattle.
The operation was conducted on Wednesday, April 1 under the leadership of Vittal police sub-inspector, Vinod K S.
The police, who were tipped about the illegal business of cattle trafficking, had kept vigil on the movement of vehicles. They got the information that miscreants had planned to take the cattle to the slaughterhouse on Wednesday by using interior roads. The police intercepted the vehicle which was moving towards Salethur via Okkethoor and Kodapadavu road. A cow and two calves were found loaded in the vehicle.
The police have gathered information that the cattle were brought from Alike region. All the three accused succeeded in fleeing during the raid. The police, who have taken the vehicle and cattle into possession, have launched a detailed investigation.
