Stay off roads, Karnataka DGP warns motorists


Bengaluru, Apr 1 (IANS): Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Praveen Sood, here on Wednesday, warned motorists to stay off roads until the end of lockdown on April 14. "This is not an April Fool's prank. Use of two- and four-wheelers are banned till April 14," he tweeted.

He said in case of the lockdown violation, automobiles would be seized. "We will seize your vehicle if you cease to ignore this lockdown regulation," Sood cautioned.

The Bengaluru Police have already seized 5,550 vehicles. Of the seized vehicles, 5,106 were two-wheelers, 181 three-wheelers and 263 four-wheelers, said City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao.

"People are moving with the silliest of excuses. Respect lockdown, walk to your grocery shop," Rao exhorted.

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Commissioner B.H. Anil Kumar tweeted a poster that read, "Caution, you are at your own risk if you are on road. It is punishable offence."
