Udupi, Apr 1: Food kits worth Rs 1,000 each consisting items of daily use were donated to families of 175 agricultural labourers and other labourers by Geetanjali Silks proprietor Udupi and former president of Neere gram panchayat, Santhosh Vagle. The kits were handed over separately to the labourers by Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar in the gram panchayat auditorium.

The MLA commended the help rendered by Santhosh Vagle to the families who were finding it difficult to meet their daily needs as lock down is enforced to prevent the spread of Covid – 19. He said that the programme held abiding by the guidelines of maintaining social distance is an example to the society.

Gram panchayat president Sadananda Prabhu and other members, district panchayat member Sumith Shetty Koudooru, former taluk panchayat president Vikram Hegde and Malini J Shetty were present.

Panchayat development officer Ankita Nayak and staff helped towards making the programme a success by ensuring social distance was maintained during the programme.
