Mangalore, Dec 2: “The Congress Party aims to emerge as a ray of hope for the youth of our country just like the late PM Rajiv Gandhi, who endowed voting rights to those 18 years and above through an amendment to the country’s constitution during his term in office. He envisioned a better future for the youth who can contribute significantly to national growth”, said Ivan D’Souza, vice-president, District Congress Committee (DCC).
He was addressing a gathering of youths and the general public during the membership campaign held at Tagore Park on Tuesday December 1.
Ivan D’Souza urged college students to enroll in the membership campaign to work for the democracy of our fast developing country.
KPCC secretary Mohammed Badruddin inaugurated the membership campaign at 11.00 am on Tuesday by handing over the first membership papers to Darryl D’Souza, student union leader of St Aloysius College.
Over 511 enrolled in the campaign held from 11.00 am to 1.30 pm on Tuesday.
Student leader Darryl D’Souza, secretary Shrijit, DCC secretary Mithun Rai, city NSUI president Ashiq Pereira, block youth Congress president Praveen Alva, chief secretary Merrill Rego, Vijaya Lobo, Vinaya Mascarenhas, Pratibha Poojary, Manish Kumar, Tharanath Bhandary, Abilash Varma, Sharan Kumar, and Krithik Kumar were present.
