Mangaluru, Mar 29: In a noble gesture, Sudha Murthy, chairperson of Infosys Foundation, has donated personal protection kits worth Rs 73 lac to Dakshina Kannada to help the district in battling coronavirus. Her gesture was in response to an appeal by the police department.
On Saturday March 28, Sudha Murthy sent Rs 28 lac worth of medical kits within 36 hours of the appeal by the police department.
On Sunday March 29, Infosys Foundation sent N-95 masks, hand sanitizers and other medical equipment, altogether worth Rs 73 lac. These will be handed over to doctors, nurses and other medical health professionals working in Wenlock hospital.
The police department of Dakshina Kannada district had requested for help on behalf of the district administration in the wake of the increasing number coronavirus cases. Accordingly, Sudha Murthy has sent emergency medical kits.
Tweeting about the noble gesture of Infosys foundation, city police commissioner Dr Harsha has thanked Ramadas Kamath and team of Infosys Foundation for their whole-heated support at this critical time.
"Mrs Sudha Murthy responded to the call of Mangalore Police on behalf of D K district administration and within 36hrs Critical Medical supplies worth Rs 28 lakhs have reached Mangalore We thank Madam Sudha Murty and Infosys Foundation' Sri Ramdas Kamat and team (sic)," he tweeted.
"MORE HELP.. INFOSYS foundation sent us 2nd consignment of N95 masks, PPEs and santisers total worth of 73 lakhs in all..These wil be primarily used by doctors, nurses, paramedics of WENLOCK COVID hospital and masks by frontline staff ASHA & police at risk of exposure to virus (sic)," he said in another tweet.
