Mangaluru, Mar 27: Police commissioner Dr P S Harsha has said that complete lockdown will be enforced on Saturday, March 28 with only medical emergencies as an exception.
In an audio message, Dr P S Harsha said, “Our neighbouring district of Kasargod has 82 positive cases. Over 40,000 people are home quarantined. We had two more cases in Dakhsina Kannada today. Hence, as discussed in the meeting with district in-charge minister, MP, MLAs and other officials, a complete lockdown will be enforced tomorrow.
“No shops will be open tomorrow. No one should come on road except if there is any medical emergency. Police will not lathicharge anyone, but will be using loudspeakers to inform people to stay indoors. Personal vehicles like motorcycles and cars will not be allowed at any cost. Only trucks supplying essential goods will be allowed to ply on roads.
“Hence, it will be a complete lockdown. Police will be on rounds from 5.30 am. No one should be spotted on roads,” he said.
However, deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said that milk, newspaper shops and pharmacy will be kept open.
