Karkala, Nov 27: Karkala Junior Magistrate (First Class) has sentenced Krishna M, teacher of Hebri government PU College, to 15 months imprisonment, after finding him guilty of the offences relating to a case of behaving indecently with one of his students and attempting to rape her. The teacher has also been fined Rs 10,000.
Reportedly, the teacher had sent the girl, an eighth standard student of the college, to the last bench on September 17 last year. Thereafter, he had behaved indecently with her and posed death threat to her, warning her not to leak this information to others.
Hebri sub-inspector of police, Yogish, had registered the case. The court, which found that the charges have been proved beyond doubt and without any ambiguity, also has taken umbrage at the behaviour of the college principal, Manjunath, for adducing false evidence in the court, with the aim of protecting his colleague and trying to mislead the court. It has ordered for lodging a separate case against the principal for this act.
