Mangaluru, Mar 24: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown, confusion arose in the general public regarding availability of essential services like groceries, milk, medicine etc.

Police commissioner of Mangaluru Dr P S Harsha, in a tweet gave information regarding essential services to clear doubts from the mind of public.

Dr P S Harsha has informed that in Dakshina Kannada, essential services and grocery shops will be open from 6 am to 12 noon. He further assured that essential services supply will not be interrupted. He has requested general public not to panic and spread rumours. Further, he has appealed to public to avoid being on groups and maintain social distance.

PM Modi in a tweet has mentioned that medical and grocery will be functioning. He has appealed to public not to worry and things will be normal soon.

    I have a suggestion. It can be like Monday a particular area like kankanady can keep shops open, the next day Jeppu or some other area can be open. Atleast this way people may not rush and Panic buy.

    Sir... Please start some door to door supply of essential items. Today morning i seen a huge rush in Padavinangady More outlet. If people rush like this than what is the use of lockdown. Corporaters should take intiative to supply the essential items with protection of police force to avoid rush. Thank you

    MP has set up a war room. Anyone can call war room office for any help including medical & grocery. There is arrangement for home delivery. That is what some some news papers reported.

    Yess correct .. Instead of starting war room he should take initiative of supply of essential items to door to door. To avoid rush in market and shops. They also give credit facility to poor people or daily wages people. Than only this lock down will get succeed. Anyway now these MLAs and corporaters should take responsibilitys in their area.

    Shops will remain open, but how will people reach them if you do not allow people to go to those shops. The police seem to have a nice time beating up people as seen in the videos that are circulating around. Please make announcements on how people are supposed to access the essential services.

    If the shops are allowed to be open for two hours only, then it'll be even more crowded than it is in this six hour window!
